Pioneer Day!

It is nice living in Utah, because July 24th is a holiday! Ryan had Friday off, so we were going to go to Zion's National Park, but when Emily had a crying episode from 10:30 p.m. to midnight, we decided to go on Saturday. When Emily woke up at about 6:15, we left to Zion's National Park--we wanted to go before the heat of the day. I guess that is the bad thing about living in St. George--heat! Anyways, we chose to hike to the Emerald Pools. This is at the beginning of the trail. Emily enjoyed being on Dad's shoulders.

This is the Lower Emerald Pool, which was a 1/2 mile up (69 foot ascent). It had waterfalls that cascade from the middle pools.


This was the view from the Middle Emerald Pool, which was a 1/2 mile up from the Lower Pool (150 foot ascent).

This was the Upper Emerald Pool--1/2 mile up from the middle pool, but ascending to 200 feet, so it seemed like forever in the heat! :)

Beginning to Crawl

Emily likes her new treats--she will even do push-ups for them! This is her attempt to crawling.

Yummy!

We are starting to feed Emily more solid foods, but she doesn't seem to like it very much. She is getting better, though!

Emily and Grace

Emily and her friend Grace went to the pool together. They looked so cute in the same swimsuit! Grace loved to touch Emily and wanted a reaction, but Emily just sat there. Grace is about 2 months older.

Here are some of the latest and greatest photos of Emily. Odd that she decides to smile for the camera on occasion. She loves to be on her feet, though she is still too wobbly to let go and walk.

Disner Reunion

Even though it has been a month now since we had the reunion, I thought I'd add a few pictures since I really enjoyed it. On June 19th through the 22nd we were in Mammoth Lakes, CA which is up near Yosemite. Anne's great grandpa (or great great?) built a cabin there back in the day. It is a beautiful place which I recommend to all. We/I went dirt biking and fishing and Anne joined on some hiking. I also saw my first bear which is what I was hoping for. Here are a few pictures. The Blackledge's, friends of the Disner's were up there as well and provided the dirt bikes which I was grateful for.





Here is a picture of Eric and myself attempting to paddle to our destination. Needless to say the raft is not for two adults. We had a picnic at one of the lakes (Horseshoe Lake). Below is Anne's attempt to keep Emily warm as it was somewhat cold still which was a nice break from St. George.

I also enjoyed some exercise chopping wood which is rather relaxing I might add. Definitely a nice way to get away from normal everyday things. This is right behind their cabin which is were we saw some deer and the bear. Too bad I don't have a picture of the cabin, maybe next time.

Provo

We went to Provo for the 4th of July weekend to visit Ryan's parents who were there from Texas working on their apartments. Cary and Sarah were also there for a couple of days for their family reunion. We watched the Stadium of Fire fireworks from a park. Below are Ryan's parents and his Aunt Vickie.

While in Provo, I was able to visit with my Aunt Rozetta and Uncle Eric. We also saw my cousin David and his girl, Leona.
